Thursday April 28:We have been doing a lot of shallow water rock fish and ling cod with good results. Our last trip (before the wind) we had some quality reds, coppers, olives, a few tree fish, cabazone and some nice ling cod. We do have an open trip this Sunday May 1 with lots of room and a good weather forecast. It's a lot of fun fishing in shallow with lighter lead.
Friday April 22:We had a great day with some great quality fish in the shallows. Vermillions to 5 pounds and nice coppers and cabazon.
Wednesday April 20:What a fantastic day on the water. Beautiful flat calm weather and some fun shallow water fishing down the coast with West Marine and Cuda Fishing Products.
Friday April 8: We did get to Sur on Wednesday. The weather turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! Greasy calm conditions. Easy ling cod limits, tough on the rock fish. We ended up with about 7 rock fish around. Ling cod are scaring the rock fish away! I have an open load trip scheduled for next Friday the 15th.
Monday April 4:Weather looks good for Pt Sur Rock fish and Lingcod on Wednesday. We have plenty of room. We probably won't be doing much salmon fishing until some more fish move in. We will keep you posted.<
Saturday April 2:Our Salmon opener was nothing to write home fact nothing to write about period! No fish. Only heard of 5 fish caught out of the hundreds of boats that were out there looking. On our rockfish opener the lingcod bite was good but rock cod bite was light. We did not make it down the coast so can't wait til we can get down there to hopefully do some damage.
Thursday March 31:Well it looks as though mother nature decided to put a little too much wind on our parade for the opener of rock fish and ling cod tomorrow. So glad I have anglers that just want to go fishing! We will be fishing in more local waters tomorrow instead of our usual Pt Sur.
Monday March 14: Looks like we have a salmon opener of April 2. The regulation will be the same, 2 fish per angler, open 7 days a week, 24 inch size limit. Two of the options they are considering is a full season through Sept 5 and the third option is April 2 through June 30. We will know when it closes after later meetings. I am booked already for April 2 with anglers that were committed to go. I do have some room on April 3.
